It's just a matter of finding a dumber front office than ours.

I have seen multiple media guys floating the idea that it's a real possibility Durant is back and they run at this again. Are they hearing something inside the organization? I have now even heard radio guys floating this as well. Man I hope they can flip him for assets. I think they should stretch Beal. If you have to give up assets to move Beal that cuts into what you will get for Durant.

If we run this back? This forum is going to meltdown.

Man that would be insane. This team was the biggest mess of meh ever. Not good, not plucky, not entertaining, not really likable, no engaging personality, no fire. Just nothing to connect to.

It’s not a young team that interests you to see growth of the youth even if they stink. So in that regard it’s less interesting than even the awful Josh Jackson, bender, chriss seasons.

I’d compare with to the horrid turkeyglue, Childress, pupu platter but that garbage wasn’t accompanied by the deep abyss of a shadow that hangs over the current iteration where we have giant contracts, a no-trade clause and have leveraged an enormous portion of our future assets.

Running back THIS squad is just stupid. Full stop. Just stupid.

Completely agree. Having said that? I wouldn't be shocked if this is exactly what happens.

beal would have to wanna leave - but he doesn't because if you wanna rob a city of their money and chances - phx is a great destination

You also have to find a trade partner with the right salary pieces or KD isn't going anywhere. The teams you wanted to get out early are still in it. It's going to be a touch sale for any of the teams in the WCF/ECF that they need KD when they are 1 round away from the finals. The new Suns GM has his hands full on that.

I just read that Beal cannot be stretched.

Per Gerald Bourguet: "the Suns CAN NOT waive and stretch Bradley Beal next year because the dead salary can't be more than 15% of the cap salary. That 15% for next year will be around $23M. Waiving and stretching Beal: $22M BUT we have already dead money on Nassir Little ($3.1M) and E.J. Liddell ($0.7M). That would make it $25.8M in dead salary, so it's not allowed by the rules."

However, I did hear that the Suns could do what they did before and just tell the player not to show up because he won't be playing. That might motivate Beal to waive his NTC. If Beal doesn't go anywhere it might be because we did not move KD. Nobody is taking on Beal's contract without getting something in return.

Well, that provision probably saves the Suns from themselves, anyway, since waiving him is probably the least intelligent option. Even having him come back and be essentially worthless is probably less harmful in the long run.

Rumor I made up:

Chicago Bulls love to collect guards.

Patrick Williams and other scrubs to match salaries for Beal.

Gross
If the Suns could somehow pry Josh Giddey loose from Chicago in any kind of deal, that might be a good place to start a rebuild. Fantasy, I know, but still...

I've seen this, too. I have been saying all along, Beal is hamstringing this whole thing. We tried to move KD just a few months ago. The second apron is seriously hampering what we can do. We need to get under the aprons if even just momentarily. The longer we can wait to trade/buy out Beal the better. You don't want a $17 million dollar whole on this team for five years. Even one more season with Beal, and it gives us way less impact on our team's salary to trade/buy out Beal. If you can't get anything decent for KD, and your team is screwed with Beal on it, might as well run it back with KD. Beal without KD, Ishbia can't even keep a straight face trying to sell KD leaving if he gets a terrible return on KD leaving.

I don't agree with the idea of trading KD or Book to Houston for our picks and then tanking. Besides the picks Houston owns, the other FRPs in years between are heavily devaluated by multiple swapping deals. So we'd tank to enrich those rights owning teams. Only after 2031 we start to have full control of our picks in consecutive years and can "enjoy" our long-lasting epic tanking seasons then.

Waiving Beal doesn't make sense. Actually, trading Book for competitive assets may create a better roster situation for near future. Book to Houston for Green, Eason, Smith +picks or to Dallas for AD now they have Flagg to be the franchise player for decade

Remember we tried to trade Beal first before KD this season? It was widely reported there was less than zero interest. Buy out and waive has been explained by a couple NBA capologists. We aren't getting anything for Beal. We would have to trade assets to get someone to take him, which I am against. I'd rather eat his salary if it comes to that. Beal playing one more season, even a half season, makes that a much smaller meal.

You’re overthinking it. Having control of our pick every other year is still 10x better than never having control of our draft. We’re going to be bad regardless so having that safety net in 27’ and 29’ is huge.

Unfortunately, you are right and that we are stuck with Beal. No one wants him especially with that ridiculous contract.
