Celtics play good fundamental basketball. The Suns don't.
I would say that's always been "Celtic basketball." Their Franchise has always looked to be fundamentally sound. That's why I want the Suns to come up with some identity other than soft. Right now, no one knows what the hell our team is or is trying to achieve except "win now" whatever that means.

I've seen Oso shoot the three in practice and it's not pretty. Actually, I don't know how Oso can even shoot it the way he does.

I simply want to see him shoot it in game action to see what it looks like in live action.
It's REALLY ugly. I think the coaches have him overdoing the maneuver to overcome a bad motion he had. To try and retrain his muscle motion. I mean it's so bad, that's the only logical explanation I can come up with.

This offseason, the Suns should prioritize defense and length. They have a long list of weaknesses.

IMO, some of it has to be coaching and the GM making the right personnel decision.

It's a good an explanation as any other. I can't remember seeing another player with such a terrible looking outside shot.

So if you have what Suns basketball is, then you can draft, scout, and develop and coach for what that is. We don't have that. We have a strategy. It's we have Booker and KD and go get the best vets we can to surround them. Put the best coaches we can buy. Just get the best parts and the rest will work itself out.

That's not a philosophy of play. That's a strategy. Seriously, the Suns have to figure out what brand of basketball is Suns ball. There for awhile it was fast break basketball. We went and got players able to play that brand of ball. Now we get guys with all kinds of mismatched skills and just try and find the best lineup, and go from there. That's not a style of play. It's go down to the local ball court and pick the best guys and try and win pick up basketball.

I think this is why Durant doesn't work here. He plays one style, his. Booker has been in all sorts of different styles here and found success. He can and will adapt. Meanwhile Durant wants to plod and iso almost like Joe Johnson with the Hawks. It's frustrating because he could be more but he has zero desire to change. He has his rings and now its about the paychecks. We need guys who will listen to the coach, buy in, and sacrifice for each other.

Here's a good explanation of what happened to the Suns from Finals to now:

Nothing surprising there. The author paints a depressing picture of our future but his last sentence suggests he's slightly more optimistic than I am when he says we'll trade Durant this summer but it probably won't matter.

The version of the Suns I loved died in 2023. There is not much more to say other than rehashing the details.
