Steelers Unveil Aaron Rodgers' Jersey Number After Blockbuster Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to stay competitive in the AFC North with their most recent free agent signing.

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers agreed to join the team on a one-year deal that's worth up to $19.5 million.

Details on the contract include $10 million in guarantees and a base salary of $13.65 million.

Fans and insiders had been worrying about the Pittsburgh Steelers after the team decided to wait on the 41-year-old quarterback to make his decision on whether or not he wanted to continue to play football.

Rodgers ultimately decided to sign with the Mike Tomlin-led Steelers after a three-month wait that began when Rodgers was released from the New York Jets on March 12.

Rodgers will be going into year 21 in the NFL after spending time with the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets.

He won four MVP awards and a Super Bowl in 2011 for the Packers, but his two season with the Jets didn't go as planned.

His first year in New York in 2023 was short-lived, rupturing his Achilles tendon in the very first game of the season. He then went into the 2024 season with higher expectations, but the Jets finished with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs.

Now, he will join the Pittsburgh Steelers for at least one season and join a quarterback room that includes 2025 sixth round pick Will Howard, Mason Rudolph, and Skylar Thompson.

After officially signing his one-year deal, the Steelers revealed that Rodgers will be keeping the same No. 8 he wore while playing with the Jets.

With Rodgers headlining the quarterback room in Pittsburgh, the Steelers will look to stay competitive in a strong AFC North division that includes the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns.
