The NFL Draft is finally over, and we can now start looking toward those moves that teams are expected to make "post-draft."
One of those teams is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who appear to be a favorite to land Falcons veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins via trade.
The Falcons previously have said they're in no hurry to move Cousins, who lost his starting role to rookie Michael Penix Jr. mid-way through last season.
Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot appeared on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio to update Cousins' status in Atlanta.
“We have to be patient there and we always we’re open with not just talking about Kirk, but with really anybody on our roster,” Fontenot said. “You know, we have a lot of those calls with — I’ve probably talked to already six or seven GMs, since the draft ended, and they’re talking about their roster. “
And yes, this is being talked about in Pittsburgh as the Cousin’s rumors are catching on fire.
More Fontenot:
"And if it’s not something that’s going to ultimately help this team, we always have to ask that question: Is it the best for the Atlanta Falcons or this organization? And if it is, we’re going to be willing to do it. But all that communication is always ongoing.”
Last time we heard, the Falcons reportedly wanted a team to pick up $20 million of Cousins' $37.5 million guaranteed money. Will the Steelers be ok covering that? For Cousins?
If Aaron Rodgers declines the Steelers' invitation to play, then they might not have a choice.
