As we close in on the 2025 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons are sitting tight with quarterback Kirk Cousins. The 36-year-old remains on the roster but a draft night trade isn't totally out of the question. With teams waiting on Aaron Rodgers to decide his future, Cousins' market is in decent shape.

If the Falcons can get one of the QB-needy teams to give up a mid-to-late pick for Cousins in 2025, they could use it to add some much-needed depth. Otherwise, a post-draft trade or release makes more financial sense for Atlanta.

In a new feature by CBS Sports, NFL analyst Cody Benjamin named three potential landing spots for Cousins. First up, he listed the Minnesota Vikings. Would Cousins really go back to Minnesota one year after leaving for more money in Atlanta?

"His return wouldn't necessarily inhibit J.J. McCarthy, the new face of the franchise, from taking over in 2025 and beyond," wrote Benjamin. "He'd offer coach Kevin O'Connell a ready-made insurance plan, without the preexisting pressure of being the guy."

Next up, Benjamin suggested the division-rival New Orleans Saints as a landing spot for the veteran quarterback. The Saints are in an unusual spot with Derek Carr and if they don't draft a QB in Round 1, they may not find one in this draft.

"Cousins is the kind of proven play-action veteran who could hold down the fort while the Saints get things in order for the future," explained Benjamin. "As a bonus, he'd probably relish games against the Falcons."

Last but not least, he mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are still waiting on Rodgers.

"Pittsburgh wasn't an apparent frontrunner for Cousins when he hit free agency last offseason, but that's probably because general manager Omar Khan was zeroed in on more affordable options," wrote Benjamin. "A year later, the Steelers are even more desperate."

The Steelers would be in a tough spot if Rodgers doesn't sign, and Cousins could be a perfect consolation prize. It would give him the chance to work with former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, who is set to return as Pittsburgh's offensive coordinator in 2025.

All three options would be interesting for different reasons. Cousins returning to Minnesota would be must-see TV. The Steelers are an intriguing option if they miss out on Rodgers. However, nothing would be better than seeing the team trade Cousins to the Saints and watching him face off against Michael Penix Jr.

The draft is just one week away, so there's a small chance that fans won't have to wait much longer.
