Sucks the injury bug is already hitting us so hard- that said- ST V was someone I was hoping would be our back up on the bench, not starting in front of our other 3 corners (Johnson, Melton, Williams) who no doubt have a much higher ceiling.

The only concern I have now is depth- if one of those top 3 go down could be trouble. I know Darren urban is trying to talk himself into kei trel Clark- but I'm sure not

I'm the anti-K9 when it comes to K. Clark.

A sixth round pick thrown to the wolves with nothing but future insurance-salesmen in our front seven during that lost 2023 season.

It's unscientific, I understand, but despite kerouac9's quotation of his defensive stats during that season, when I watched him play in 2023, I liked what I saw. Tenacious. Fearless. Aggressive.

If he were as bad as K9 says he is, he would not still be on the team. Not after we've added a million CBs to the roster in the interim.

I'm not saying he's a starter, just that I think he's capable of contributing (meaningfully) at the NFL level.

I saw a tenacious guy who just couldn't keep up with NFL receivers.

I think Rasul Douglas is still unsigned. He’d fit the more aggressive style
I hope the Cards intend to play.
Between the question marks at IOL and a credible 3rd target for Kyler, going all in doesn't seem to be the plan this year. Maybe next year!

I would assume the point is that the drop in talent between 4 and 7 is significantly less than it is from 1/2/3 to 4 and lower. I would agree with that argument.
I would agree with that too. Except we didn't lose our number 4-7, we just lost 1-3.

I can't disagree with you here. I think this is the "Are we actually good?" season.

I do know that Murray emphatically stated that he believes we have the receivers we need.

This team as usual is in no hurry to compete immediately and it's incredibly frustrating after multiple years of "rebuild" and plenty of available avenues to add talent. What's the hold up?

I think that 95% of the time, barring extreme strife between FO and player you'll get the same answer. (Kyler is right to give that answer, of course)

I'd argue Starling was clearly the 4th best CB on the roster. He was a placeholder until Melton was ready to go.

Melton gave up a 91.5 QB Rating. League Average QB Rating last year was 88, so he was pretty much average.

STV gave up at 100.6 QB Rating, so worse than Melton, but a huge improvement from his rookie year (131.0). LOL his rookie year numbers were Kevin Peterson bad.

Monti seems to be pretty conservative, and I think they believe they have the players on the roster to become a better passing offense.

Even if Marvin improves by 10%, this offense will be significantly better because they had so many poorly executed plays.

If I were Monti, I would have brought in a credible NFL WR option. To me, Christian Kirk on a trade would have been pretty damn good for this team.

One silver lining that may come out of this would be Garrett Williams getting reps outside in base. I am sure most preferred to have STV get beat out by Will Johnson, Elijah Jones and Denzel Burke, but they will now battle each other for a larger role. If no one emerges, then it is an issue.

Maybe. I actually don't think MO is the type to circle one year and say "this is it". He's trying to build long-term, sustainable success.

And so I agree with you that there was not a "win at all cost" approach for 2025, and that MO will continue to try to improve the roster in 2026.

That doesn't mean the coaching staff or K1 gets a pass if we only win five or six games this year however. If that happens, there's going to be trouble at 8701 Hardy Dr!

I would get a Vet CB in camp asap. They lost 2 freaking starters before August. Something is going on, plan ahead accordingly with the 38 mil your sitting on ( if youre serious about winning the West )

Yeah, I don't see it necessarily as an either or proposition. I think we could have addresses weaknesses this offseason without destroying future flexibility.

I was a big fan of Darren Hall last offseason. I am excited to follow him again.

CBS so young , we don’t know what the hell we got, but Burke has his shot, hope they all win and fall back, until opening day, and aggravate the crap out of the receivers and make them better too!
Whoever does the best against MHJ, McBride and Wilson will stand out.

I agree. Dude had a trial by fire like few nfl rookies have ever seen.
No inside info here...but I think some attitude issues arose when the team started bringing guys in and penciling them in ahead of him...because the kid landed in the JG doghouse really quick last off season.

I don't disagree with you, but he started for us. That puts him in the 1-3 category IMO.
