Didn't get anywhere near what we gave up for him.

Starting to wonder if Hazen should be on the hot seat...

That is what I have been saying for awhile. All this vitriol at Torey but nothing for Hazen and Torey doesn't act in a vacuum. I don't know enough about minor leaguers to know what they gave up vs what they got but I think this whole thing speaks to a lack of vision by the organization

I was glad they traded for Marte because we needed a CF but it obviously backfired. With the pandemic and likely work stoppage after 21’ it’s clear they’re trying to slash payroll.

It didn't backfire. Starling has been their best player, though Lovullo has misused him. The rest of the team outside of Ketel and Gallen has flat-out tanked. Torey needs to go.

This brings the Dbacks down to a $62 million dollar payroll in 2021 with 16 million in deferred salaries from Greinke and 5 million from Leake depending on what he does.

So...like the Suns of the 2010s, the D-Backs are now a glorified Minor League franchise. Great...

Added to the current losing streak on the records, a fire sale is going
to make it difficult to root for our team, let alone watch their games.

I can't help but wonder what Steve and BB are thinking. Yes, they
work for Fox Sports AZ, but they are the TV voices of the D-backs.

How can people like they, and we, even pretend to support the team?

I was once a fan of the team for whom they coined the phrase, The
Boys of Summer.
Now, it's the Boycott of Autumn.

Edit: Unless this is part of plan to turn the CF spot over to Varsho.
That's turn it over to him, not have an "everybody" rotation
as they do at Designated Hitter.

More on #Dbacks return from Miami: Caleb Smith is a back-end left-handed SP controllable through 2023 who has potential for more. Meija is a 23-year-old starter who just cracked the big leagues this year. Frias is a Single-A pitching prospect with a sub-3.00 ERA last year.

Steve and BB knew this was coming...or strongly suspected it was. You could tell by how they were talking postgame Sunday.

This was the right decision although it probably should have been made last year.

I know all about Varsho's history of playing OF but is that REALLY where he should be playing? I don't know, just asking.

Lovullo has been manager for 3 full seasons and has 2 second place finishesand a third place finish. All the seasons have produced a winning record overall.

I don't think he is the answer but he will be given a chance next season and possibly beyond

Perhaps with Torey's inconsistent lineups, it was too
confusing for him to have two players with the name
Marte on the back of their uniforms.

I just hope he doesn't use this as an excuse to go
back to bouncing Ketel between 2B and CF.

He must certainly move Ketel back to the heart of
the batting order with Starling gone . . . mustn't he?

Honestly. I think today's fire sale puts a spotlight on Hazen's failures as well. We should've gotten rid of Ray last year where he was worth something. Bradley as well. Lamb is still on the team because that stupid contract.

We got a locker room full of followers. But lack leadership and having Toreys nonchalant approach to things doesn't light up a fire under anyone.

I feel like this team should go all in on giving the young guys some practice reps at this point and let them be good in the next year or so.

Ketel stays put in the order. Walker moves up to #3. Peralta stays at 4, Escobar to 5. Just my guess.

As for position for Ketel, I would expect he will bounce back and forth CF/2B. Torey may go heavy Locastro/Jay in CF?

I can't quote where now, but after last season, Ketel was quoted as saying
that moving back and forth between the IF and OF caused health problems.

I hope somebody in management respects his input.

Regarding Walker, he is hot. Very hot. And hopefully he'll level off well.

But I see Ketel as similar to Ryne Sandburg. He hit second and Grace
hit third, because a 2B isn't supposed to be a #3 hitter, even though
he had more power than Grace.

Ketel (I guess I could say Marte now :) ) was our #2 RBI man last year.
This year he is hardly driving in runs, batting leadoff, then second.

Following the weakest part of the batting order. It is a waste of his talent.

This forum is gonna be fun when Ketel Marte is our CF next year.
I don't see that as a problem. It's being bounced back and forth between 2B and CF that is the problem.

Like this year's problem of three or four players being DH, then pinch-hitting for the next three or four.

The manager's indecision.
