I have tried to re-watch this like 3 times since it's been on Netflix and I cannot get through it again. It is one of my least favorite SW films without question. It's terrible IMO.
Yeah it’s on my Netflix list and I can’t get myself to watch it again.

The whole 'subverting expectations' argument is so weak too. If they mean I expected this movie to be good, but then it sucked, then yeah it was super subversive. Very clever Riann.

My expectations were high. IMO JJ teed this up for the next director. The movie had some really cool parts I loved but overall the movie felt like it was changing things for the sake of change. It didn't feel organic to the characters and they completely wasted two characters which ended up being collateral damage for the sake of change.

To me, it seemed that Rian hated what JJ did in TFA and destroyed it all in The Last Jedi. Why didn't they just stick with JJ through the whole trilogy?

I think I read that JJ had no intention of doing more than one movie. He didn't want to do a trilogy. He loved refreshing the franchise and jumped at the chance to work with Kasden but didn't want to do it.

The studio has been saying all the right stuff about Rian. However, it's telling though that they went back to JJ and begged him to comeback for the last in the trilogy. Also, JJ has also defended Rian and yet he decided to comeback after not wanting to do more.

The real indicator will be when this film comes out. If there are story elements that sort of re-align the trilogy or put it back on track you will know what the studio and JJ really thought about Rian's vision.

Rian IMO is better left to new characters only with no established lineage. It's obvious he doesn't care about crapping on said established lineage.

Finally watched this. It was terrible. Rose is perhaps the worst character in all of the SW movies. Her and Finn going to the casino to find the codebreaker? Ugh.

Benecio's character intrigued me until it didn't. What a waste of a talented actor.

The stupid animals - eyerolling bad.

I could go on and on but I've invested too much time in just watching this piece of crap so far.

Joel, you and I think alike.

How about this as a thread changer"

are "Star Wars" movies the most overblown, overrated, bereft of talent, movies in history? Think of the money they've made. Think of the actual talent level, in all aspects of these films, that we've actually gotten to watch. They are only interesting because somehow they made a huge impact on society. WHY such mediocre talent had so much of an impact, is a question that boggles my mind. Just one example, Mark Hamill, and I love the guys' tweets, is just a subpar actor. What a lucky SOB.

Big Hollywood movies rarely have good acting.

You could always choose not to watch the movies.

I have not seen #1 to 3.

Saw the old ones, and #7 and #8 in theaters. I can't take back what I've seen. And, yes, I will see #9 as I will take my middle daughter. She likes the movies, which I consider to be a parenting failure. :p
