RHP Merrill Kelly said he received a shot of cortisone and lidocaine in his back last week. He played catch today without problem and is optimistic about being able to pitch at backend of rotation to start the season.

Ryan Waldschmidt's 112.1 mph single would be better than these player's max EVs last season:

- Michael Busch
- Jorge Polanco
- Trea Turner
- Jose Ramirez
- Zach Neto
- Cody Bellinger

He's also had a 115.6 mph max EV, which only beat out by 25 players

Derek Law's assignment to Reno is due to him still recovering from injury, per @mlbtd2. He's expected back around mid-season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks reassigned the following to minor league camp:

RHP Daniel Eagen
LHP Tommy Henry
RHP Derek Law
RHP Alfred Morillo
RHP Landon Sims
INF Ben McLaughlin
INF Ivan Melendez
OF Druw Jones

65 players left in big league camp.

I am shocked Law didn't get a bigger shot.

Jones was poor this spring and Lawlar being pretty good made him a victim of the numbers game.

Tommy Henry and Ivan Melendez are just bust top prospects

Kelly is progressing toward a throwing program with an “eye on” getting into a bullpen session.

Torey Lovullo on Merrill Kelly: "All systems point towards him feeling good enough to continue progressing...There is an eye on getting him back out and throwing a bullpen, but we gotta make sure he gets through that throwing program asymptomatic. So far, so good."

Ryan Waldschmidt just ran down a 115 MPH line drive from Randy Arozarena in left field and caught it with an outstretched glove.

That probably adds to his stock in the eyes of the Diamondbacks even more than what he's done offensively.
