The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a disappointing 2025 season in which they not only failed to make the playoffs, but finished below .500 with an 80-82 record. The team sold off almost all their veterans on expiring contracts at the July 30 trade deadline.
The Arizona Diamondbacks revealed their 2026 spring training roster on Friday, and top prospect Ryan Waldschmidt will join the clubhouse with the team’s major league stars.
Slade Caldwell didn't get an invite. I am stunned considering how poor the OF depth is.
These players will go on the 60 Day DL and open 40 man roster spots nearly immediately:
RHP Corbin Burnes (39)
RHP Justin Martinez (63)'
LHP A.J. Puk (33)
1B Tyler Locklear (31)
OF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (12)
These hitters are on the final roster bubble. Honestly Barrosa should not be on the 40 man roster. He easily clears waivers.
OF Jorge Barrosa (1)
1B Tim Tawa (13)
INF Jordan Lawlar (10)
So I expect at least 2 of these guys to make the 40 man roster and possibly the starting roster:
RHP Bryce Jarvis (40)
RHP Derek Law (38)
RHP Jonathan Loaisiga (43)
RHP John Curtiss (46)
These are the arms I wll watch the most.
Bats wise
LF Ryan Waldschmidt (59)
CF Druw Jones (93)
OF Kristian Robinson (62)
I am convinced one of these guys makes the 26. The OF depth is horrific. If it is Waldschmidt they are hoping for a rookie of the year season to get the extra pick. Lourdes is probably DHing when he returns.
Neither guy makes it if we sign Goldy or an experienced RH 1B but right now, there is a shot at some playing time.
Tommy Troy (98) Troy vs Lawlar is going to be the dog fight of spring training. Super different hitters.
