I have a 300 mhz Windows 98 dinosaur.

I was twealing the sound drivers and accidently erased all the files. I went to the website & they said there were no downloads.

I have a SoundBlaster AudioPCI 128D WDM.

Is there anything that I can do to get a driver for this?

Or do I have to buy a new one? If so, how do I install, configure, etc?

tried to load them but for some reason wouldn't work. I accessed the files, unzipped them but during the install, my system froze up - I tried like 12 times.

I guess I'm just gonna go to Fry's Electronics & buy a cheap sound card.

:bang: :computer:

Sucks because I don't want to dump any money into my abacus.

I may pick up an external Read/write DVD Player for it too.

Does anyone know about external onesS/ Basically our 'puter is loaded with a bunch of digital photos that I don't want to lose when our system finally crashes - again. so that is really the only thing that I need it for. We will probably get a new computer next year.

If your computer is older, I would just buy the internal one....unless you are seriously considering buying a "new" computer. The reason being any of the new external drives out there are optimized for USB 2.0 and I have had problems using a device that is intended for USB 2.0 with a computer that has USB 1.1 even though it is suppose to work fine. I actually prefer the external devices though

Also, you don't need to buy a DVD writer, you can just pick up a CD-RW drive for like 50 bucks. The only advantage of the DVD drive for storing data like digital pictures is, you can put 4.7 gigs on one disk. A CD-R can only hold like ~750 MB per disk

It Depends. :D

Photo sizes can vary depending on resolution and file type. The best way to tell would be to right click on the folder that has the photos in it and click properties the box will come up and add up the size of the folder. Once you know how much space you need than you can decide how many CD you will need or if you want a DVD instead.
