My cousin gave me an Air Supply LP and I used to play it on this little record player I had....I think that is when most of my issues started :|

Oh yeah, and Flock of Seaguls, "I ran so far away", I used to listen to that all the time too.

"In a big country" by Big Country. That song rules!
"Tenderness" by General Public
"Photograph" by Def Leppard

And I always thought those chicks in Nelson were pretty hot :p

I went to see Air Supply last month. I wanted to re-live my youth. But seeing those old guys up there just made me realize I am getting old too. ;)

My list would be longer than Renz's. I love almost all 80's music!

I loved Huey Lewis, Def Leppard and Aerosmith. Also had a thing for Janet Jackson back then too.

But as for songs, I just have 4 words:

We
Built
This
City

:D

Thanks Renz for the list I edited for myself. I would add REM plus all the usual hair band suspects. Genesis/PhilCollins, Rush, Robert Plant, Grateful Dead to name a few.

I was anti-U2 until I saw then live at SDS for Zoo TV...my girlfriend (now wife) took me and I went because she was a huge fan and I walked away saying that was the best concert I had ever been to hands down.

Nobody has mention it but Prince "Purple Rain". I bet most listened to that.

And who can honestly say they never listened to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album?? (Brilliant music video, by the way)

Every song on that album was cool....but I would not admit to that publically alas, that was an era where you could do just about anything and not be called gay........except the actual act of being gay.

This is where age shows I suppose... Most of the bands I was listening to in the 80's were holdovers from the 70's. Many of them were still producing quality stuff throughout the 80's. I did not care much for the 80's sounds of Duran Duran, or any other band who became popular thanks to the launch of MTV. I will say that Thriller is one of the best compilations of that era, even though I was not much of a Michael Jackson fan.

Here is my list, and I know there are plenty I am missing.

The Rolling Stones
Robert Plant
Supertramp
The Police
Van Halen
Styx
Journey
The Firm
Bad Company
Yes
Triumph
Rush
Elton John
Huey Lewis & the News
The Doobie Borthers
Ozzy Osbourne
Don Henley

PYT..
The Girl is Mine..

Quality work there....

I started playing music as a young kid, got my first drumset for my 5th birthday so when I got into HS, bands were big for me... all the mega popular stuff, non-synthesized stuff was in our bag of tricks.... Lots of fun...

ALL TIME FAVORITE GET YOUR GROOVE ON SONG....

Little Wing, SRV...

I know, I know... Hendrix did it first, but SRV just brought it to a different level. Play that song and hook up with your honey... sweet music, just be sure to have it loop over and over and over!! *S*

Man I used to get beat up in the 80s for listening to the stuff I did, and half of it, you guys have already listed! Someone's lying.

I was a total new waver/skate kid/punk rocker from about 1982/3 till..... welll, now I guess.

I saw the Power Station in concert at the old Compton Terrace. Robert Palmer wasn't on the tour so they had Michael Des Barres on vox. It was a great show

People have neglected to mention Duran Duran - also another really good group despite how much they get slagged.

Other good bands from that era:

TNT
Alcatrazz
Whitesnake
Rainbow
Screaming Trees
DLR
Talking Heads

BTW: What has happened to Compton Terrace? They haven't had a show there for as long as I can remember
