The Miami Dolphins started the week with a bang on Monday, trading veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In return, Miami re-acquired former Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick, the No. 11 overall pick by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL draft, was traded to Pittsburgh in 2019 for a 2020 first-round pick, which Miami used to select current right tackle Austin Jackson.
As the dust settled on social media, reactions echoed throughout the fan base and across the NFL landscape. As always, opinions on the deal varied.
The trade also included a pick swap, with Miami receiving a 2027 fifth-rounder and Pittsburgh getting a 2027 seventh-rounder.

I'm not upset at the Jonnu/Ramsey trade. The Dolphins accommodated players & it didn't work out. Jonnu decision was a business decision. Could have easily been avoided if only the org would have stopped giving out raises just because players wanted one. Although I personally have…

Quick off-the-clock thoughts on the Steelers/Dolphins trade ...
1) Pittsburgh's acquired Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jonnu Smith and now Jalen Ramsey. All on third contracts or beyond. They're leaning hard into 2025.
2) Ramsey's flexibility to play corner and safety should…

My quick thoughts on the Ramsey/Smith for Fitzpatrick trade:
1. I hope Fitzpatrick is fine being back. Otherwise we just traded a DB who doesn’t want to be here for a DB who doesn’t want to be here.
2. Losing Smith stings at first, but Hill/Waddle both had down years with Smith…

It feels good getting Minkah back should have never left (cough Flores cough) we need a safety and got a top 5 guy.
Going to miss Jonnu that was a cool first year and wish the money worked out but it what it is.
On ramsey, bye
Good trade! Let’s see who they add at TE

Definitely agree. Whilst it's hard and a lot of talent lost... Jonnu was "pay me or trade me" and Ramsey been outta the door already. Losing two players we were probably always gunna lose... But getting Minkah back to contribute high levels immediately... That's a win. https://t.co/RqMAGqnv4u

people giving grier credit for cleaning up his own mess is comical. gave ramsey two extentions only for him to bitch and complain and have to trade him for a guy we got rid of because he complained. grier is a mess and so is this team. still need two corners and its july.

They still have a lot of holes to fill but like the Dolphins trade for two reasons: Minkah Fitzpatrick is closer to his prime than Jalen Ramsey, and they didn’t pony up like $5-6m more to pay Jonnu Smith, although was great offensively last season.

Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!! https://t.co/RyDBVE8h1i

Think of losing Jonnu Smith this way:
Those targets go to Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Westbrook Ikhine.
Yeah. They won the trade.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is a potential chess piece. Technically could play some slot, roaming safety if and when Kader Kohou is outside. But might make most sense to leave Kohou inside and leave Fitzpatrick at safety, where he has been a 5-time Pro Bowler, including last 3 years.
