Washington State Cougars fans were loud as the team took down the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday (Nov. 16). WSU played very well on both sides of the ball and Connor Halliday emerged as the hero with a touchdown strike late in the fourth quarter to win the game. The 24-17 victory kept hopes alive for a bowl game this season and allows WSU to pass Arizona in the overall Pac-12 standings.
Halliday finished the game completing 39-of-53 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. His connection to Isiah Myers with just 2:15 left in the game ended up clinching the win and pushing the team to 5-5 on the season. Now all the Cougars need to do is win one of their final two games to become bowl eligible for the first time since Mike Leach was hired as the new head coach.
Worth mentioning is how embarrassed Arizona writer Megan Coghlan must be after her game predictions completely fell flat. She had stated that the Wildcats were going to win by at least 27 points and that there was no way that WSU could win the game down in Arizona. She also talked about how WSU fans should be planning out what bars to visit in Tucson to drown their sorrows after a loss. It has not been confirmed which bar she has chosen to drown her own sorrows.
