PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers made a move at the deadline to acquire Quentin Grimes from the Dallas Mavericks and the move paid off for both he and the team after the deal.

Grimes was terrific averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 37.3% from deep in 28 games with Philadelphia. While the Sixers didn't win as many games as they were hoping for, they now have a better idea of what he can bring to the table in the future.

As he now heads into the offseason, Grimes now has to build off this performance and then carry it into the 2025-26 season.

"I definitely feel like I showed just kind of my whole arsenal, my whole package, three level scorer," Grimes said when the season ended. "I can bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense, being in attack mode the whole game. So I feel like going to the offseason, just sharpening up my ball handling and I feel like I'll pin the ball a lot more."

The Sixers will have Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain return after their season-ending injuries so one has to believe that a lineup featuring those two plus Grimes will be on the floor together at times. Grimes will have to be able to do a lot of different things such as coming off screens, playing with ball-dominant guards, and be able to fire off catch-and-shoot opportunities.

When considering his strong end to the season since joining the Sixers, Grimes will be on the scouting report more often than not in the 2025-26 season. The goal now for the 4-year guard out of Houston is to keep working on his game to make sure he fits on this team going forward.

"Just finding different ways to get shots off, because the defense will probably be keyed on me a lot more," he added. "Just different ways coming off pindowns, pick-and-rolls where I can get my shots off for sure, but just definitely tightening up every part of my game, just knowing I was able to do and show a little bit of everything since I've been here."

Grimes will also be a restricted free agent in the offseason so that is something else he will have to handle, but that will take care of itself. At this point, he just needs to continue focusing on improvement and his growth as a player.
