The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp enter September with a road trip to the Charlotte Knights. Here's what you need to know about the next Triple-A baseball series.
Who: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Charlotte Knights.
When: Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Sunday, Sept. 7.
Where: Truist Field, Charlotte, N.C.
Series recap: The Jumbo Shrimp dropped four of six in a home series against the Rochester Red Wings, falling to 30-26 for the second half. Still, they're assured of a spot in the postseason at VyStar Ballpark, having won the first half.
Highlight: Jacksonville brought a four-game losing streak into their Aug. 28 game when former Arlington Country Day catcher Brian Navarreto turned their game around. His home run in the seventh inning nudged the Jumbo Shrimp to a 4-3 victory.
Crustacean sensation: Now back from the injured list, Jacob Berry is a batter on fire. The versatile Jumbo Shrimp infielder is 12 for 20 (.600) in his past five games with four doubles. For August as a whole, Berry was .325/.393/.425 with eight doubles and eight stolen bases.
On deck: Triple-A affiliates of the Chicago White Sox, the Knights field a familiar face for Jacksonville fans in former Wolfson High School pitcher Mike Clevinger. Charlotte also includes Chicago's No. 2 prospect in former first-round pitcher Noah Schultz, a left-hander in size extra-extra-large (6-10, 240 pounds), although he has been rocked thus far (9.37 ERA) at Triple-A.
Probable pitchers Tuesday: To be announced.
