I'm flying solo to the Oakland game in October, and I have a chance to buy a single in the Black Hole end zone (Sec. 105, Row 8 ). I'll be wearing a red Boldin replica....or maybe just a grey t-shirt.

Should I do it? And if so, will I make it out in one piece?

I said absolutely,

but...

I suggest you dress up in neutral colors (white, brown, pink :D)

and

dont cheer at all (sit/stand with your arms crossed with a serious look on your face all game long)

I've heard they are soft. Buddy of mine that went with me to the NEZ last year said we were harder than the BlackHole.

Go...represent...and start some Smack.

I wouldn't do it. You would seriously be taking your life in jeopardy. I've been to a game in Oakland before. They are down right abusive and will follow you to your car in the parking lot where there is no security. I'm not joking! We are talking scum of the earth type of people. Not all of them are but there are a bunch of them that will go way over the line and don't care about the repercussions.

You will be fine as long as you don't wear the gear or cheer for the opposing team.

I recall a Pittsburgh fan that was nearly killed in the stadium when the Raiders were playing in Los Angeles. The scuttlebutt was that this particular Steeler fan provoked the incident, however anyway you view it, that is a serious over-reaction by some thug fans...

That'll be the Raiders' third home game. I might try to go to one of their first two (SD and CLE) just to see what the crowds are really like. (As an aside, Niners fans seemed decent in the one game I went to last year).

I'm probably going to the Cardinals game there no matter what, but I may have to keep quiet and I probably won't be wearing any Cardinal gear.

That was going to be my comment too you might be reasonably safe in the stadium but in the bathroom or the parking lot you literally are risking your safety wearing enemy colors in Oakland.

My girlfriend has a good friend who had to call security because 2 guys tried to follow her into the bathroom. She and her boyfriend had to leave the game early because secruity didn't boot the guys out and they started "stalking" her and her boyfriend. They had to be escorted to their car by security, and they were both Raider fans it was just these guys thought she was good looking so they decided what better way to impress her than follow her into the bathroom.

Most Niner fans are fine, they may throw popcorn at you but I've worn Cards gear there with no issues at all. Raider fans are a different breed, you have to figure a good 25% of the fans are out on bail or on probation, and another 25% just haven't been caught yet.

as has already been stated, but the point can not be overstressed , DO NOT WEAR CARDS COLORS AT THE GAME,
i have been to games in san fran and oakland and felt perfectly fine about wearing my cards stuff at candlestick,
or whatever its called now, the fans there are very good natured and except for a little ribbing your not taking your life in your own hands by representing your team,
oaklands another story

True sports fans still call it Candlestick. Monster Park at Candlestick point or whatever the hell they're calling it now is not the real name IMHO.

Russ, that can happen anywhere. Scumbags litter America. A good looking woman could get harassed at McD's.......Go represent the Redbird in the BlackHole.

Do it and take a camcorder running for the full game. You can do a documentary and we will edit it like the Blair Witch movie.

So long as you don't act like an a-hole, go for it. You're just as likely to get assaulted wearing Card gear in the upper deck of Sun Devil Stadium...thank God those days are over.

Go Cards!!!

yep - even though there is no rivalry or history between the teams - it's not worth it

all it takes is a couple want to be tough guys to take it too far

talking crap and the back and forth is fun - I had a great time with my alexander jersey in the top rows of cleveland - but wouldn't dare go in there with certain jerseys

unfortunately you have people who need to validate their worth through sports and the teams they follow - people who derive their image off it all - although most are pretty cool, it only takes a couple - and even though the attendance will be bad that game, even in a crowd of 30,000 it isn't hard to find a couple A-Holes

also you have to figure that there wont be many other card fans to take the heat off of you

Sure, and you can get attacked by a shark swimming on any beach in the world. But you're more likely to get attacked if you cover yourself in blood and jump in off the farallones during seal mating season. Which is why I would recommend NOT going in the water there in that condition.

Sorry it's shark week I'm preoccupied.

Dont the have a video of some opposing fan getting shanked by a Raiders fan. Pretty crazy stuff. Got him right in the belly and kept walking.
