After three days of action, six teams remain alive as we continue the quarterfinal round of the SEC Baseball Tournament. With the conference expanding to 16 teams, the tournament took on a new format this season. The SEC ditched double-elimination and went for a classic single-elimination, 16-team bracket.
The top-four seeds earned double-byes, which is why LSU won't even make its tournament debut until Friday night.
Teams want to make a final impression on the selection committee before the NCAA Tournament field is revealed on Sunday. Not every school is fighting for the same thing, though. Texas A&M just wants to make the tournament, Tennessee wants to host a regional, and LSU is vying for a top-eight seed and a path to host a Super Regional.
Friday should give us more answers. Tennessee and Vanderbilt already have their semi-final tickets punched. By the time today's action is wrapped up, we'll know the other semifinal. Here's the complete schedule for Friday's action in Hoover.
Arkansas has been idle all week after earning a double-bye. Ole Miss enjoyed a first round bye before beating Florida 3-1 in the second round.
