Chaos. It's what fans root for any time their favorite teams aren't playing. In SEC baseball, it's almost a guarantee.

Take Week 9 in the league slate, for example. A team that hadn't won a single game in league play for eight weeks swept its opponent. The No. 1 team in the country lost its series to a rival. And a preseason Top-10 team pulled off a fifth straight series win.

Things are so batty in the league, the SEC deserves 14 bids to the NCAA Tournament. That would mean only two teams didn't make it. Unheard of. But justified considering what happens on a week-to-week basis here.

With just one week left in the regular season, here's how the league stacks up.

16. Missouri Tigers

Last week: 16

What in the world just happened? Missouri entered the penultimate weekend of the SEC season a winless 0-24 in league play with the preseason No. 1 Texas A&M Aggies up. The Tigers exited the weekend 3-24 in league play with a wounded Texas A&M Aggies bunch licking its wounds. Wow.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks

Last week: 15

Much like last week against Florida, South Carolina's troubles against Auburn were pronounced. The Gamecocks dropped the series opener by 22 runs and the capper by eight. The Ray Tanner days feel so long ago.

14. Texas A&M

Last week: 12

A few weeks back we proclaimed the Aggies to have turned a corner. They weren't looking like that preseason No. 1, but they were rounding into NCAA Tournament form. A sweep at the hands of Missouri, with a 27-23 overall record and a 10-17 mark in league play, have everyone wondering whether A&M can even make the Dance.

13. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Last week: 13

If Mississippi State doesn't get an invitation to the NCAA Tournament now, something is up. MSU has won five of its last six SEC games now after sweeping Kentucky in Week 7 and taking two of three from rival Ole Miss in Week 8.

12. Oklahoma Sooners

Last week: 8

A four-place drop feels bigger than it actually is. The reality is that the SEC has six teams from No. 12 to No. 6 that could swap every week, depending on the results. The bummer for the Sooners is that they're falling at the wrong time.

11. Kentucky Wildcats

Last week: 14

Kentucky is scary. Bottom line. The Wildcats aren't consistent, but the wekeend sweep of Oklahoma pulled UK within a game of .500 in SEC play.

10. Ole Miss Rebels

Last week: 9

Ole Miss is 34-17 overall and carries a winning SEC record. But is anyone scared of the Rebels? Ole Miss has lost four of its last five SEC series.

9. Alabama Crimson Tide

Last week: 11

The anti-Oklahoma, Alabama is peaking at the right time. After taking two of three from Georgia, the Crimson Tide are two games above .500 in league play. A series win against Florida in the regular-season finale would impress

8. Florida Gators

Last week: 10

Don't look now, the Gators are coming. Florida is 12-3 over its last 15 SEC games. This after starting the year two places from the bottom of these power rankings. Would anyone be shocked at a deep NCAA run?

7. Tennessee Volunteers

Last week: 5

Tennessee hasn't won an SEC series in literally a month. The defending national champions are in no danger of missing out on the NCAA Tournament or anything, but a team that once looked like a clear top-five bunch is maybe, oh, 15th or so.

6. Vanderbilt Commodores

Last week: 7

Well, we know who the best team in the state of Tennessee is this year. Maybe we don't, actually, but Vanderbilt gets to hold the series win over the Vols' head, anyway. How deep the 'Dores go in the NCAA Tournament is really the question.

5. Georgia Bulldogs

Last week: 5

The Bulldogs have their hands full now if they want to earn the double bye in the SEC Tournament. After the series loss on the weekend, Georgia finds itself in fourth in the SEC, but its 16 wins are tied with Vandy and the fourth-place team on this list.

4. Auburn Tigers

Last week: 4

Auburn just keeps plugging along, winning series. The Tigers have won an astounding seven of nine SEC sets this year. Auburn would be higher, probably, were it not for sweeps at the hands of Texas and Georgia. But you can bet those teams wouldn't want to play Auburn again.

3. LSU Tigers

Last week: 3

Should LSU move up after taking two of three from the No. 1 team in these rankings? Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know. The truth is the Tigers, Longhorns and Razorbacks exist in a Yahtzee cup. Throw 'em whichever way you like.

2. Texas Longhorns

Last week: 2

See LSU summary and apply it to the Longhorns, who dropped two of three.

1. Arkansas Razorbacks

Last week: 1

Arkansas fans will tell you this team stinks, that they won't make it out of their Regional. They might be right. But probably aren't.
