All aboard the Audric Estime hype train.

After the Denver Broncos used their second-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft to select UCF running back RJ Harvey, fans (and fantasy football managers) have been focused on the possibility of Harving serving as the team's new RB1. That's understandable -- and Harvey is poised to serve as the lead back -- but he won't be alone in the backfield.

Estime, the team's fifth-round draft pick in 2024, is returning after an underwhelming rookie season, and coach Sean Payton has hinted that he will have a larger workload in 2025. Following the departure of Javonte Williams this offseason, Estime figures to serve as the club's No. 2 RB behind Harvey.

“Year 2 for him. Just running style and his physicality, the things that got him drafted," Payton said last week when asked what he'd like to see from Estime. "The things that we saw. [It was] a little bit harder for him last year — for a handful of these guys. I don’t want to say the grade was incomplete, but they just didn’t have enough [touches]. He’s a back that requires enough touches. He’s going to get those opportunities.”

Estime (5-11, 227 pounds) rushed 76 times for 310 yards and two scores on 138 snaps last fall.

Jaleel McLaughlin is also returning, but he's more of a scatback than a bruiser. Estime might be the early favorite for short-yardage and goal-line opportunities in 2025, and Payton has historically rotated between two main RBs. Harvey is the flashy, exciting new RB1, but fans and pundits shouldn't overlook Estime going into Year 2.
