Last month, NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw suffered a "torn quadriceps" while working out, an injury that could "force him to miss a portion of the upcoming 2025 NFL season."
Local reporters in Denver soon clarified that Greenlaw had actually strained his quad and would be sidelined for weeks, not months. Broncos coach Sean Payton confirmed that at rookie minicamp over the weekend, seemingly taking a shot at the original report in the process.
“He’s on schedule," Payton said of Greenlaw's recovery. "I saw the early reports, and you don’t know how tempted I get sometimes… But I showed great restraint. He’s doing well and will be a full participant in training camp. All of that’s doing great, but I refrained.”
Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Broncos this offseason. He is expected to serve as the team's No. 1 inside linebacker this fall.
