The Seattle Seahawks released 2023 fourth-round pick Cameron Young, the team announced the day before the 2025 NFL draft. General manager John Schneider drafted Young with the No. 123 overall selection in the 2023 draft.
Young's rookie season in Seattle showed a little promise. The Mississippi State standout appeared in 16 of 17 games and logged 205 defensive snaps. Young recorded 18 total tackles, one quarterback hit, and one pass breakup. Unfortunately, an injury prevented him from building on that performance as a sophomore.
Injuries limited Young to only one contest in 2024, with two defensive snaps and one on special teams. Young began his second campaign on injured reserve with a knee injury and later resurfaced back on IR in November. The 2023 fourth-round pick never became a healthy contributor for Mike Macdonald.
The Seahawks could replace Young by drafting a rotational run stopper with a late-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The only other true nose tackle on the roster is reserve/futures contract signee Brandon Pili, who will battle just to make the roster in training camp. Veteran Jarran Reed can occasionally play the position, but he's not a traditional nose guard.
The Seahawks will draft an interior defensive lineman this weekend.
