The Seattle Seahawks have made their second pick of the second round of the 2025 NFL draft. At No. 50 overall, their original second selection, the Seahawks drafted tight end Elijah Arroyo from Miami. Seattle has now given quarterback Sam Darnold and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak a new weapon to work with over the middle of the field.
Seahawks legend and former league MVP Shaun Alexander, with his children, announced the pick for Seattle.
After all four years of his collegiate career at Miami, Arroyo hauled in 46 receptions for 753 yards and eight touchdowns - with seven of those scores coming in 2024. Injuries in 2022 and 2023 limited his overall production, but last season Arroyo played in 13 games and had by far the best season with the Hurricanes.
Here is what Arroyo's official draft profile overview from the NFL says about him:
It should be noted some of Arroyo's listed strengths include confidence working in the middle of the defense, along with playing for a coach who prioritizes blocking effort. Klint Kubiak's offense is known for using tight ends both in the passing attack, but as well as blockers in the run game. It is obvious the Seahawks want to run the ball at a much more successful level in 2025 and adding a versatile tight end like Arroyo further confirms this belief.

Arroyo enters the evaluation process with questions to answer after a knee injury took chunks of two seasons from him. He displayed a willingness as both a point-of-attack and move blocker, but his technique and play strength will need upgrading. He’s an average athlete who struggles to beat man coverage but appeared to get faster and more fluid as the 2024 season wore on. He plays with awareness in space and secures throws with sure hands in traffic. Arroyo is a move tight end whose medical and athletic testing need to check out to give him a legitimate shot at being a productive pro.
