The crown prince just came out last week and denounced fundamentalist influence and pressure, and said his coming regime would be a lot more secular. Don't know how this plays in. There has been a lot of Sunni/Shia tension forever, and Saudi Arabia has taken to tanking world oil prices in recent years to weaken the other members of OPEC and gain more market share. Iran has been the worst hit in the region.
