The governing body of world sailing says it will start doing its own independent testing for viruses in Rio's Olympic waters after an Associated Press investigation showed a serious health risk to athletes competing in venues rife with raw sewage. ''We're going to find someone who can do the testing for us that can safely cover what we need to know from a virus perspective as well as the bacteria perspective,'' Peter Sowrey, chief executive of the International Sailing Federation, said. The sailing venue in Rio's Guanabara Bay is badly polluted, as is a separate venue for rowing and canoeing - the Rodrigo de Freitas lake - in central Rio.

Yep, it's already making people training there sick.

They are so unprepared, and their economy just hit depression levels.

Many of the venues are still not built, and the ones that are partially built, are just that, partially built.

Worse yet, some of the things they wanted to build, they need to evict people and then demo their homes. Personally I think that's abhorrent, but it goes to show you that that is another way they are behind.

This is likely to be one giant snafu, and the IOC should maybe be thinking about moving the Olympics. Put it back in China or UK or somewhere they just built the facilities and can handle the load, because Brazil isn't close to ready.

I for one have been fascinated since the first reports of them not being remotely ready came up a couple of years ago.
