The 2025 WNBA season is just around the corner, with defending champions the New York Liberty, along with all 12 other teams, kicking off training camp on Sunday.

Sabrina Ionescu, who ranked second in scoring for the Liberty last season, averaged 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

As the three-time all-star heads into her sixth year in the WNBA, she’s looking to take her game to the next level.

Ionescu competed in the new Unrivaled three-on-three basketball league, which was co-founded by her teammate, Breanna Stewart, and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier. It provided her with consistent competition throughout the offseason that only a select group of WNBA players were able to get.

Ionescu spoke to the media after Sunday’s practice, noting how great of shape she’s in right now.

"I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life right now," she said.

Ionescu has been open about her health and training in the past. Back in March 2024, while preparing for both the 2024 WNBA season and the Paris Olympics, she spoke about her time in the weight room.

"You can work on the things that you want to improve on the court, and you can do it in a more controlled way," the 5-foot-11 guard said.

Ionescu and the Liberty will tip off the 2025 WNBA regular season on May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces. Before the game starts at 1 p.m. ET, the team will host their ring ceremony.
