Following the completion of their 2025 draft class, the Chicago Bears have put the final touches on the trade that netted them several of their young key players.
Back in 2023, when Chicago had the No. 1 overall pick, they traded the selection (which became quarterback Bryce Young) to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for wide receiver DJ Moore and a plethora of picks that were spread across the 2023, 2024, and 2025 drafts.
In the first part of their trade with Carolina, the Bears used their 2023 first-round pick swap to select right tackle Darnell Wright, who has become a force on the offensive line, and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson in the second round. Then the big haul came in last year's draft. That started with getting Carolina's first-round pick, first overall, which landed them quarterback Caleb Williams and punter Tory Taylor. And, in 2025, the trade was complete with the selection of wide receiver Luther Burden at 39th overall.
Speaking to the media after the draft, general manager Ryan Poles discussed the finalized trade after selecting Burden, believing that the trade has worked out for them in the long run.
"Yeah, I feel pretty good," Poles said. "I think it's worked out for us."
Carolina has seemingly done well for themselves in finding Young as their franchise quarterback, although there's still plenty room for growth for him. It's extremely difficult to judge a trade that sees one team land six total players while the other just gets one, a young quarterback.
In the end, Chicago got the quantity, and the quality will be determined by the long-term success of both franchises, with the Bears hoping to gear up as a true threat in the NFC.
