Over the last five years, Rori Harmon has been a model of consistency for Longhorns women's basketball. She has been a vital contributor on offense while etching her name into the record books. As the Longhorns have gotten off to a 14-0 start, the Texas native has been at the center of their success.
During the Longhorns undefeated start, Harmon has averaged 9.4 points and 3.7 assists per game. The star point guard has also been very productive from the three-point range, shooting 42.9 percent. Although she has made an impact in various ways, Harmon has remained an assist machine.
While leading the Longhorns' offense, Harmon is averaging 7.8 assists per game. If the season were to end today, that would be tied for her career high. The Cypress Creek alum has already recorded 10 or more assists in five games this season. Two of those performances have come in this month against Northwestern State, the 13th-best team in the country, and Baylor. With the regular season far from over, that list should continue to grow.
For many in Austin, Harmon's ability to put her teammates in the best position to succeed comes as no surprise. She currently has 840 assists in her career, which is the most in program history. By the end of the season, she should be able to increase her total to an amount that will be hard to surpass.
As the Longhorns continue to chase a national title, Harmon will be key to their success. She is one of their most important players offensively and has been in a groove of late. With her setting the tone, the Longhorns are hard to stop.
She will get to build on her success this Saturday when Texas takes on the SE Louisiana Lady Lions.
