Rockets Eye Bigger Move With Suns After Kevin Durant Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Another blockbuster trade in the NBA happened on Sunday as the Phoenix Suns agreed to send Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, finally ending their saga.

Of course, trade rumors surrounding Durant had been swirling since the trade deadline and the Suns finally moved on from him on Sunday in a massive deal with the Rockets.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Phoenix is sending Durant to Houston for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks.

This is a massive move by the Suns as they now add assets to kickstart their rebuild around Devin Booker as they try to turn their franchise around as soon as possible.

On the other side, the Rockets add Durant to their young core that is fresh off finishing second in the Western Conference, though they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Golden State Warriors.

While the Rockets’ trade for Durant could help them become title contenders next season, they reportedly have bigger plans in mind in a potential future trade with the Suns.

According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the Rockets are still hopeful that they will be able to land Booker from the Suns in a future pursuit despite Booker’s unwillingness to leave Phoenix.

Although the Suns and Devin Booker never plan to divorce, the Rockets remain hopeful for a future pursuit.

Houston still owns Phoenix’s unprotected 2027 and 2029 first-round picks after acquiring Kevin Durant.

Sidery also pointed out that the Rockets still own Phoenix’s unprotected first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 and if things end up going wrong for the Suns in the future, Houston could be ready to pounce a potential Booker trade.

This is a massive report and one that is not surprising as the Rockets have been linked to Booker for a while now.

Despite this, Booker has remained loyal to the Suns despite their recent struggles but if that ever changes, expect the Rockets to be the first team in line to pull off a trade for the superstar guard.
