Revealed: How much Bayern Munich paid consultants in 2023/24

Bundesliga clubs paid almost €250m to consultants in the 2023/24 season with Bayern Munich leading the way. As per financial figures of the DFL, cited by Kicker, the Rekordmeister paid a staggering €51.195m to agencies, which was followed by Borussia Dortmund (€36.632m), RB Leipzig (€35.216m) and Eintracht Frankfurt (€24.095m).

With all 18 teams combined, Bundesliga clubs set a new record for fees paid to consultancies which saw an all-time high of €249.717m, a significant increase on the €187.819m the previous season – but the latter figure could be higher given Eintracht Frankfurt’s switch to a seasonal accounting strategy at the time, and therefore only half of their figures were reported.

But why the rise in commissions in the Bundesliga?

Kicker cite the increase in fees paid because of the increase in transfer revenues. Bundesliga clubs generated around €1.06bn from sales in the 2023/24 campaign, an increase of around €450m from the 2022/23 season, while spending €840m on new arrivals, which is almost €300m than the previous year.

The 2023/24 season is the year that Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich for a reported €95m and Jude Bellingham left Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid for €113m. With the use of agents and intermediaries, this contributed to the increase in commissions paid by top-flight clubs.
