Former Arizona State guard Joson Sanon reportedly declined an invitation to the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Sanon was initially among the prospects slated to participate in the annual scouting event at the Wintrust Arena on May 9-10 in Chicago, Illinois. He will instead prioritize upcoming draft workouts this month with teams selecting early in the second round.
The list of players invited to the G League Elite Camp typically indicates those with the highest odds of being selected or signed as undrafted free agents after the draft. The top performers will be invited to participate in the draft combine on May 11-18.
Sanon averaged 11.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and one assist on 36.9% shooting from 3-point range in 27 games as a freshman with the Sun Devils. He registered three 20-point games, including a season-high 28 points and three rebounds on March 1.
The 19-year-old opted to transfer to St. John's after the season, giving head coach Rick Pitino the top-ranked class in the portal, according to 247Sports. The program also added Bryce Hopkins (Providence), Ian Jackson (North Carolina) and Dillon Mitchell (Cincinnati), among others.
After withdrawing from the G League Elite Camp, Sanon can gauge his draft stock in team workouts. He has until May 28 to withdraw from the draft and return to school.
The 2025 NBA draft will occur June 25-26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
