Report: Packers to host Lions at Lambeau Field in Week 1 of 2025 season

For the first time since 2018, the Green Bay Packers will open the regular season at home. According to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, the Packers will host the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field during Week 1 of the 2025 regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m., suggesting the NFC North rivalry game could be the showcase late afternoon game in Week 1.

The Packers haven't played at home in the season opener since 2018. Hosting the Lions in 2025 will snap a six-year streak of playing on the road to open a season and will mark the first Week 1 home game for Packers coach Matt LaFleur.

The Lions finished 15-2, including a sweep of the Packers, and won the NFC North in 2024. Despite being the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, the Lions were beaten at home by the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round. Overall, the Lions have won six of the last seven games against the Packers since 2022, with the lone defeat coming on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field in 2023. The Packers haven't beaten the Lions at Lambeau Field since 2021.

This is the third reported game on the Packers' 2025 schedule, joining a Week 10 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on "Monday Night Football" and a Saturday meeting with the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Week 16.

The full schedule for the Packers and the 31 other NFL teams will be released at 7:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday night.
