THE WOODLANDS, Texas – China's Yan Liu recorded a rare albatross on Friday to vault into the solo lead at the 2025 Chevron Championship. The 27-year-old holed a 7-iron from 170 yards on the par-5 eighth hole on the Nicklaus Course at The Club at Carlton Woods.

A foursome of players hold the clubhouse lead at 6 under.

Liu made her debut in the Chevron last year where she missed the cut. The third-year LPGA player slept on a share of the lead after an opening 65. She quickly erased two early bogeys with her front-nine hole-out.

Yan's best LPGA finish to date is a share of third at the 2023 ShopRite LPGA Classic.
