The Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions, and they'll have plenty of motivation for 2025 after 22 teams voted to ban the 'Tush Push'.
Green Bay's amended proposal fell two votes short, as the Packers needed 24-32 teams to vote yes on the ban. After the owner's private vote, Philadelphia and the NFL world reacted to the failed attempt to ban the play. Looking to match the Packers' level of pettiness, the Eagles released a 26-minute YouTube video featuring all successful TushPush plays.
The Athletic's Dianni Russini reports that other teams around the league may have used the Packers as ammo to dismantle the Eagles' popular play.
The Eagles came under scrutiny for utilizing a standard quarterback sneak that incorporates lining up two players behind Jalen Hurts, who receives the snap, uses his powerful legs (600-pound squat), with the potential push of his two fellow Eagles from behind, attempts to gain the necessary yardage for a fresh set of downs or a touchdown.
The play has been so incredibly effective for Philadelphia that Hurts finished in a tie for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns (14) in 2024, and he's halfway to 100 (55 rushing scores) after just four whole years as a starter.
With the ruling now complete, we're ranking the teams most responsible for this travesty:
The Eagles dominated every facet of the game and won the turnover battle while dominating the Commanders to advance to Super Bowl 59. Philadelphia rushed for seven touchdowns, including three scores each for Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, blowing out their NFC East rival 55-23 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. During the NFC Championship, the Commanders received a warning from referee Shawn Hochuli after committing four penalties to stop the Eagles' "tush push" play. The refs warned that if the Commanders continued to commit multiple fouls to prevent a score, they would award the Eagles a touchdown.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott voiced his displeasure about the play despite Buffalo using the play 30+ times in 2024, second in the NFL only behind the Eagles. According to the Democrat & Chronicle, Allen converted 20 of 21 third—or fourth-down quarterback sneaks heading into the AFC Championship Game last season.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris has led the charge about getting the plan banned all spring.
Of the 22 teams voting against Philadelphia, we clearly know that Dallas, Washington, and the New York Giants voted in favor of the ban.

While the Packers were the authors of the proposal, it’s important to note that they were not the only ones in favor of banning the play — the majority of the league voted in favor of the Green Bay’s proposal. Commissioner Roger Goodell, according to a league source, finds the play ugly.
High-ranking front-office sources from four NFL teams said they felt the Packers were used by the league because of their lack of a principal owner. With Green Bay’s name on the “tush push proposal,” other teams — and their owners — could throw their support behind it without a single owner being targeted by those who opposed it.
