Can the Washington Commanders win 10 games or more in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1989-91? After shocking everyone by going 12-5 and making the NFC championship game last season, the Commanders are a trendy pick to compete with the Eagles as the NFC's best team in 2025.
It will be difficult to repeat last season's success. Washington could be a more improved team in 2025, but not win as many games. That doesn't mean the Commanders will be unsuccessful, but Washington has a more difficult schedule next season. When the NFL revealed the 2025 schedule on Wednesday, the Commanders had five prime-time games and three more standalone games.
Who is the most challenging opponent on Washington's schedule? Who is the easiest matchup? As we know, it's the NFL. No game is easy, but some games are less of a challenge. We rank the easiest to the toughest.
The Giants never make it easy on the Commanders. However, everything is in Washington's favor here. Opening the season against the rebuilding Giants in front of a sold-out crowd should be the perfect recipe for Washington.
The Raiders are also rebuilding, but are in the first year of a rebuild. Las Vegas will be a tough out under new head coach Pete Carroll. But the Raiders are coming across the country, which always benefits the home team.
We're not picking on you, New York fans. These games are always close, but if the Giants struggle — and they have a nightmare schedule — they could have an interim coach by Week 15.
Seattle travels across the country for Sunday Night Football. The Seahawks made wholesale offensive changes. Advantage, Commanders.
This tells you how difficult Washington's schedule is. The Falcons are tough, as evidenced by their game with Washington in Week 17 last season. Atlanta could have a difficult time stopping Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.
Merry Christmas. Washington makes its Christmas Day debut against archrival Dallas. It's a short week for both teams, but that always favors the home team.
At Green Bay? Easy? No, not exactly. This will not be an easy game, but think of it this way: the Commanders are going to Green Bay in September — not November or later. That's a huge break for Washington.
International games are difficult. But it's the same travel for both teams. The Commanders are a better team than the Dolphins. It seems like Miami is on the verge of an implosion at any moment. Could that happen by Week 11?
The rematch between Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams. Chicago's return to the scene of the "Hail Mary." It's also the rematch between Dan Quinn and Ben Johnson. This game will be fun, but Washington is at home and will hold the advantage.
Dak Prescott is back for Dallas. But, while the Cowboys did have a solid draft and traded for mercurial WR George Pickens, it's fair to ask how much better Dallas will be in 2025? These games are always tough, but there are more difficult ones on the 2025 schedule.
Denver makes the trip to the East Coast, where second-year stars Danels and Bo Nix face one another for the first time. This should be an outstanding episode of Sunday Night Football.
Playing in Minnesota is tough. The Vikings were outstanding last season, but will start J.J. McCarthy at quarterback next season. Can he be as successful as Sam Darnold was operating Kevin O'Connell's offense? Minnesota is a good, well-balanced team.
The Chargers play a tough brand of football under Jim Harbaugh. They're going to run the ball early and often. The Commanders must travel across the country for this one.
The Lions will be out for blood in this game. How much will losing coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn impact Detroit? The Lions still have one of the NFL's top rosters. This will be a fun rematch.
Maybe this game isn't as difficult as it looks right now. Why? Philadelphia could have its postseason destination locked up and choose to sit its starters, like last season. If so, this game is less daunting. The Commanders could also be in resting mode by Week 18.
This game should be more competitive than Week 16. Neither team will be resting starters in Week 16. The Eagles still have the NFL's most talented roster, and the Commanders understand that the NFC East runs through Philly.
Going to Arrowhead Stadium in prime time, yeah, that's a tough one. We will learn a lot about the 2025 Commanders in this one. Kansas City is almost impossible to beat at home, especially under the lights.
