The Los Angeles Rams currently have two picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. And while that is still months away and the Rams are only onto Week 4 of their season, it's worth looking into the future a bit to see what could happen next April.

The Atlanta Falcons' second loss of the year means the Rams' second first-round pick could continue to drop all season, which would be huge for whatever player Sean McVay and Les Snead could be targeting early in the draft. While the Rams also loss, they still look like one of the top teams in the NFC and will continue to contend for the division.

CBS Sports' Mike Renner, therefore, predicted in a new mock draft that the Rams would stick to the offensive side of the ball and take an offensive lineman with the Falcons pick and wait to take a quarterback until later in the first round.

He selected Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano with the No. 15 pick from the Falcons and TCU quarterback Josh Hoover with the Rams' No. 25 selection.

Right tackle Rob Havenstein is in the final year of his deal and turns 34 years old this offseason. The Rams may opt to take advantage of a deep offensive tackle class with multiple first-rounders. Fano is the best run blocker in the draft class with the kind of athleticism to fit in Sean McVay's offense.

The Rams have to start thinking about a quarterback of the future, and Hoover has an intriguing skillset to develop behind Matthew Stafford. He's fearless in the pocket with a willingness to attack with anticipation down the field.

In terms of setting themselves up for the future, the Rams couldn't have done a better job if this scenario unfolded.

Fano is a phenomenal draft prospect who would fill an immediate need should the Rams move on from Havenstein this offseason. Hoover, while not originally considered a first-round guy, has quietly put together a great season for the Horned Frogs. Hoover has completed 68% of his passes for 1,000 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Even if the Rams keep Stafford for another season, Hoover would be a great quarterback to stash on the bench until he's ready to take over the mantle.

Good quarterbacks rarely fall in the first round — they're usually scooped up early by teams in desperate need for a new player under center. Hoover was the fifth quarterback in this mock, though, so there's a chance he does slide if the other teams get their guy early.

There is still a lot of football to be played between now and next April, but the Rams could build a true long-term contender if they can draft well.
