The Cardinals are expecting their next free agent visit on Monday, March 10 by former Rams fullback James Hodgins.

Hodgins was considered one of the best lead blockers in the league going into the 2002 season. He was the Rams’ starting fullback in 2001, blocking for NFL Offensive Player of the Year RB Marshall Faulk and NFL MVP QB Kurt Warner. Also a special teams contributor, Hodgins 2002 season was hampered by a broken foot which kept him out the first seven weeks of the season.

Yea, a decent blocker. But, I do not recall him doing much other than blocking. But, for running plays he would be pretty good.
Wonder if Jon Ritchie (SF) is still available? Good blocker too.

So what

When are you gonna report a free agent signing. Either one of ours or one we are pursuing. Who cares who they are talking to.

Just be thankful we are getting this info. As far as signing people, you think we can sign them before they visit? A visit is the first step. Don't kill the messenger.

No problem AzKarl. Simply send me your email address and I will give you the info when it comes down. That way, you don't have to come here and read anything that you don't want to.

Can I get in on that action, Jim? Maybe deliver mine to my home though. On some nice Cardinals letterhead, please.

Thanks in advance.

It is the same stuff that I post here Section 11, but I wanted to make it easy for AzKarl so he didn't have to read about the dreaded free agent visits anymore.

AZKarl...if I remember right, this thread is titled "Rams FB James Hodgins To Visit Cards"...so if you dont' care about who's visiting, maybe you should just skip threads talking about that.

Jim goes out of his way to give us information, and treating him like you just did is a pretty lame way of thanking him.

No offense taken at all. I am just trying to offer a remedy to those who don't want news about visits.

Look Jim, I am just frustrated about hearing the visits and not hearing of signings. The comment was not an attack just a vent of frustration. I appreciate the information you provide.

I am new to this board. In the military no longer in AZ. I will say however, it's really too bad when all we have to look forward to is who is coming in town and who is not. We all know good and well, people stop by and then move on unless there being offered a huge load of money! ie. overpayed.

That being said, sure would like to actually see a good player sign soon. It is getting pretty old watching everyone else sign people to contracts.

Don't see much direction from the franchise yet.

In USAF stationed in Utah, without going into too much detail. Good to hear there are a few of us around.

I was wondering about the FB void. Hodgins is an average receiver also, but man, can he block. Faulk said last year that his injury was the reason the ams' running game sputtered. The guy is devistating.

Ritchie signed!

Jon Ritchie just signed with the Eagles. We should have gone after him! He was fairly decent with the Raiders.
Still waiting to seee the Cards land something!!

Just wondering but...

Just wondering but - What happened to all that talk about operating out of a 2 TE base Ace set with Steve Bush being our H-Back and FB whenever we decided to run out of a standard 2-back set?

I happen to prefer the Offset "I" with a lead-FB on running downs, and would love to see Hodgins here. But I know some of you wanted to go 2 TE.

Comments?
