After selecting former Longhorns star quarterback Quinn Ewers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dolphins have signed him to an NFL contract. The four-year deal will reportedly be worth $4.3 million. Now that his rookie deal is finalized, Ewers can focus on carving out a role in Miami.
Ewers, the final quarterback drafted, brings an impressive resume to the Dolphins. During his college career, the Texas native started 37 games and led the Longhorns to 27 wins. He also recorded 9,128 passing yards and 68 passing touchdowns. While he battled injuries during the 2024 campaign, he set career highs in touchdown passes and completions.
Although Ewers will be learning a new system, it does have some similarities to the Longhorns. That is one that thing that Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel thinks Ewers will benefit from.
"I think one of the things that gives him an advantage as a rookie, just getting started, is that overlap. The way that he orchestrates the offense from the motion, timing, and really anticipating things, there's a fit there. So we're excited to get into the program and start working," McDaniel said.
In Miami, Ewers will be part of a QB room that includes Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson. Although Ewers will not have to start immediately, that could change due to Tagovailoa's injury history. If the opportunity does arise, he will be ready to make the most of his playing time.
At the moment, the focus for Ewers will be making the most of his reps to show the rest of the NFL what they missed by passing on him.
