The Miami Dolphins' decision-makers can sleep tight knowing that they have their quarterback. Not Tua Tagovailoa, according to former Dallas Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant, but Quinn Ewers. Mike McDaniel's team took the now-former Texas Longhorns passer with the No. 231 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday, but Bryant sees something in him that others must have failed to.

Bryant goes as far as to say that Ewers will unseat Tua Tagovailoa as the team's starter behind center.

"I like Quinn Ewers over Tua already. He's Dan Marino 2.0 and yes..I said it," Bryant wrote Saturday on X.

Marino, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, also slid in his respective draft, but not nearly as far as Ewers. Marino won the Associated Press (AP) MVP award in 1984, was a three-time first-team AP All-Pro and led the league in passing five times during his 17-year career.

Bryant doubled down on his prediction, comparing the situation to that of another otherworldly signal-caller who played his college ball in the Lone Star State.

"I'll never forget when I spoke my thoughts about Patrick Mahomes when he got drafted; folks thought I was crazy, but we all know how that situation is playing out at the moment," Bryant said. "Sometimes it's all about where you land. Ewers couldn't have been put in a better situation for his skill set. I think Ewers is better than Tua across the board..and he's a better fit in the McDaniels offense."

The Dolphins hope they've found something in Quinn Ewers, a former five-star recruit who somehow underperformed despite leading the Longhorns to consecutive College Football Playoff semifinals. Miami currently owns the longest playoff win drought in the NFL, having not won a postseason matchup since 2000. The Dolphins have had seven- and eight-year absences during the dry spell.
