The Arizona Cardinals selected seven players in the 2025 NFL draft. Their fifth-round pick, cornerback Denzel Burke, was selected with pick No. 174.

What role could he play for the team as a rookie? We will look at each draft pick and make projections for what role each can viably expect for them in 2025.

What is the case for Burke?

Expected role for Arizona Cardinals CB Denzel Burke

Burke has his work cut out for him. It will come down to numbers. How many cornerbacks will the Cardinals keep? They have Sean Murphy-Bunting, Star Thomas, Garrett Williams, Max Melton and Kei'Trel Clark, all of whom were on the roster last season. 2024 third-round pick Elijah Jones never spent a day on the roster because he was on injured reserve. They drafted Will Johnson in the second round.

While Clark is easily replaced, who else can be bumped from the roster to make room for both Williams and Burke?

Burke does have special teams experience, so that will help his case. He isn't likely to find the defensive rotation.

The best-case scenario is he is at the back of the roster playing special teams and sometimes being inactive. He might also have to spend time on the practice squad.
