Hopefully former Oregon Ducks defensive end Jordan Burch likes the sun.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder was just drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft as the No. 78th pick overall. He'll receive a four-year contract worth $6,489,476 with a signing bonus that will put $1,359,620 in his very big pocket.

This was the exact scenario Burch was hoping for when he transferred to Oregon following two good seasons at South Carolina. Those were good seasons, but Burch wasn't exactly turning any heads.

He turned plenty of heads in Eugene.

As a junior, Burch played in all 14 games in his first season at Oregon, starting each of the first 13 where he earned all-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition. He also matched a career-high and led the Ducks with 7.5 tackles for loss while adding 34 total tackles and three sacks.

For the 2024 season, his senior year, Burch played in 10 of Oregon’s 14 games, making nine starts as he battled a few nagging injuries. He was still an all-Big Ten third-team selection by the league’s coaches and the media and second among Ducks with career-highs of 8.5 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss. Burch finished with 31 total tackles, six pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

In their draft analysis, NFL.com's Eric Edholm says, "(Arizona general manager) Jonathan Gannon is adding layers of talent to his defense. Interestingly, Burch is being called a linebacker, so he'll be standing up and showing off the light feet he displayed on a 36-yard fake-punt run last season."
