Feeling like a king.
Sports fans know the names of Joe and Gavin Maloof, majority owners of the Sacramento Kings, but The Heat Index strives to give the fans even more.
Younger brother Phil Maloof, in his mid-30s, is part of the Kings ownership group and helps run the Palms Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
A fine life for the former college quarterback (well, it was New Mexico State, but "college quarterback" still sounds impressive) and Democratic state senator (true story).
Before we congratulate him and say "oops, he did it again," we ask: Is dating 21-year-old Britney Spears really a good thing?
According to page 15 of the "news" section in the Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail, the singer (below) was spotted having a candlelit dinner with Phil Maloof at the exclusive N9NE steakhouse in Las Vegas.
According to the paper, a witness said: "She was staring straight into his eyes for most of the night - and laughing at all his jokes. It was clear that she was infatuated with him and he couldn't keep his eyes off her.
"Around town, he's a well-known ladies' man and a charmer with a wonderful sense of humour."
Oh, grandeur. One would hate to squandour a shot at pop music splendour. Good show, Phil.
Later in the evening, Spears was said to have "danced up a storm" with Phil and his millionaire brother, George.
Far be it for the humble, house-bound Heat Index staff to comment on the entertainment choices of a Maloof.
