One of the most underrated moves by the Los Angeles Rams this offseason was the acquisition of former Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Poona Ford. The Rams signed him to a three-year, $27.6 million deal after a "really aggressive" pursuit.

Ford may have left one L.A. team for another, but Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz said it wasn't for a lack of trying on their part. Hortiz said this week that Ford picked the Rams over the Chargers despite what he felt was a "competitive offer," according to Alex Insdorf.

This is an interesting wrinkle that adds a bit of intrigue to the L.A. rivalry. However, it's impossible to know what Hortiz believes is "competitive" relative to what Ford actually signed. Ford isn't one of one of the highest paid players at his position, but he's still making a decent average annual salary of $9.2 million.

The Rams were apparently very aggressive in adding Ford, likely because of his run-stopping prowess. So, even if the Chargers' offer was close to what the Rams offered, there's no telling if Les Snead and Sean McVay would have increased their bid to add the defensive tackle.

In any event, Ford stayed in L.A. but swapped out his Chargers jersey for a Rams one. And now he'll be on one of a top veteran presence on a young defensive line hungry to get back to the NFC playoffs.
