Phoenix lands new headquarters for N.C. manufacturer

A North Carolina manufacturer is relocating its corporate headquarters to Phoenix in a subsidized deal that will bring it closer to its business partners.

Carlisle Companies, a Charlotte-based Fortune 1000 business that makes products that range from commercial roofing to cookware to aerospace components, will move about 40 members of its executive team into Kierland One on Scottsdale Road by the end of the year. Within three years, the deal is expected to bring about 120 jobs to Arizona.

The publicly traded company first announced the move in a filing to investors on Monday. The company did not indicate any manufacturing operations will move to Arizona.

Carlisle, which reports about $3.5 billion in annual revenues, is applying for a grant from the Arizona Commerce Authority, though terms of that deal are still being negotiated, according to a spokeswoman for the state agency.

The company's CEO, Chris Koch, said in a statement the move came as the company has been shifting its core business.

"We have become more global as well, expanding operations around the world. Our footprint has changed, and as a result, we have made the decision to relocate our corporate headquarters to Phoenix," he said. "We are excited to become part of a dynamic Phoenix business community. Phoenix will position us closer to many of our major customers, our employees on the West Coast and in Mexico, and provide us better access to our Asia Pacific markets."
