Phillies Named 'One of Most Active' Teams Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Philadelphia Phillies have a very important trade deadline to manage in 2025. With players nearing the end of their current deals and set to be free agents at the end of the year, there isn't much time left with this iteration of the Phillies roster.
A little over a month before the 2025 MLB trade deadline comes around, the Phillies are, according to Alex Coll of 94 WIP, "one of the most active" teams in baseball.
While Coll doesn't specifically mention any position or player, he does bring up an important caveat to the Phillies' activity. "Both externally reaching out to clubs," Coll wrote. "Internally discussing possible change/help."
If the Phillies are to make the most of the 2025 MLB trade deadline, they can't just swing for the fences and acquire a top player. They need to be smart about their roster and organizational depth, and prepare for any injuries or regression from players in the buildup to the postseason.
Whether it's calling up top prospects Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter later in the year, or making changes to the roster by shipping players out if needed, the Phillies an't just adding at the deadline this year.

Philadelphia is 2.5 games behind the New York Mets for the National League East division lead, and with plenty of time to make up that ground, the Phillies need to make more moves by the trade deadline.
With a month and a half to go, the Phillies are reportedly one of the most active teams in baseball. But, whether it's promotions or demotions internally, or acquiring players from other organizations, the Phillies are active.
This report from Coll is a great sign that the Phillies are approaching the deadline with the right mindset. It's a huge year in the Phillies franchise, and maneuvering the trade deadline is a huge undertaking. Their early activity, despite not manifesting yet, is a good sign that the team is willing to make the right moves if needed.

Hearing the #Phillies have been “one of the most active” teams as we approach the #MLB trade deadline. Both externally reaching out to clubs/internally discussing possible change/help.
