The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to move forward in the offseason after a miserable year in 2024-25 as injuries decimated the roster. The Sixers do have the No. 3 pick in their possession so that is what will be helpful for them as they look to bounce back.

With that being said, one has to wonder what free agency will look like for Philadelphia. The Sixers have 11 free agents they have to take care of. The cap space will be a bit limited in 2025 after the big spending spree in 2024, so don't expect the Sixers to be major players in free agency, but they will be looking to keep a number of key free agents.

Up next in this free agency series is Jared Butler who Philadelphia acquired from the Washington Wizards at the deadline. Initially on a two-way deal, the Sixers converted Butler to a standard deal and he averaged 11.5 points, 4.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 28 games with 17 starts.

Butler's free agency overview

Free agency status: Team option

2025-26 team option salary: $2.4 million

Prediction: Stays

Reasons for the prediction

Butler had some good moments after being acquired at the deadline. He is a cerebral player who can run the offense efficiently and showed that he can knock down an open 3 when the defense presents an opportunity. To have him as a depth piece would not hurt this group. He is somebody coach Nick Nurse can rely on should injury happen to the likes of Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain.

Butler is somebody who has a high basketball IQ. He played quarterback in high school so he knows what it's like to be the leader of a group and continue to push guys to move forward. One has to believe he will be the third guard on the roster when considering a healthy roster, but he can produce when called upon and had some bright moments down the stretch of what was a dreary 2024-25 season.
