Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love was nominated for two NFL awards this season, including the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, announced on Dec. 4, and the earlier announced Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

Love and the Chicago Bears' nominee, D.J. Moore, will square off at 3:25 p.m. Dec. 7 when the Packers host the Bears at Lambeau Field.

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is the league’s most prestigious honor, recognizing players who excel on the field and demonstrate a commitment to creating a positive impact beyond the game.

Two Packers players won the award or its predecessor, including Bart Starr, the first award winner, in 1969, and Jim Flanagan in 2000. Two players with ties to the Packers won the award while on other teams, including John Hadl of the San Diego Chargers in 1971 and Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. Four Chicago Bears received the award, including Walter Payton himself. It was named for him after his death in 1999.

The Packers club winner, Love launched his foundation, Hands of 10ve, in 2024 to empower children to participate in sports, raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention, and foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Love participated in fundraising for the Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay, Rawhide Youth Services and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. He sponsored community walks in Brown County and Kern County, California, to raise visibility for organizations dedicated to suicide prevention and support those affected by loss. In April, Love visited the Kern County Youth Detention Center in Bakersfield to talk about the importance of making positive choices, surprising each at-risk youth attendee with a $20,000 scholarship toward trade school or college. Love raised awareness and funds for the Bakersfield Police Activities League (PAL) through the NFL's My Cause My Cleats initiative.

A charity chosen by each team’s club nominee will receive up to $40,000, and the nonprofit chosen by the overall national winner will receive up to $250,000. All funds are donations by the NFL Foundation and the Nationwide Foundation.

Fans can participate in Nationwide's annual Charity Challenge, by posting #WPMOYChallenge along with the last name/X [Twitter] handle of their chosen player or by voting directly on NFL.com/ManOfTheYear. The charitable beneficiary of the player who receives the most collective hashtag mentions and online votes will win an additional $35,000 donation from Nationwide.

Love also is the Packers' nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. No Packers player has won the 12-year-old award, although Charles Woodson did receive it in 2015 when he was with the Oakland Raiders.

The award is presented each year to an NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. The winner will be announced on Feb. 5 as part of NFL Honors during Super Bowl week. He will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.
