Just negotiating leverage. I have heard they are not looking at tax funding for the build just infrastructure improvements and some sort of help with recent renovation costs. The Bears ownership, like the Cardinals, are trash. Why leak or announce something like this in a good season, right before they have a huge game against their biggest rival?
Bears want the state to pay for infrastructureWasn't Arlington Park a thought a few years ago? What happened to that?
seriously, as a Cardinal fan: who cares?
my team has enough issues without caring about the issues of 31 others
This has always been one of the most interesting things about message boards to me.So what? I don't care if they move to Oklahoma City.
Illinois doesn't suck - they don't want to be suckered into another bad deal. Soldier Field remodel was for one reason -the Bears. So yes, the State subsidized billionaires.Bears are the only team in the NFL that don't own their own stadium.
The NFL and the Bears fully paid their portion of the Soldier Field remodeling; the state of Illinois still owes 500M despite raising taxes for the express purpose of paying off the remodel, and they want the Bears to pay THAT off before supporting a move to a new stadium.
This is mostly about how much Illinois sucks, honestly, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. No different than the Giants playing in New Jersey.
so it's mulli's faultBears are the only team in the NFL that don't own their own stadium.

Cards get revenue from the amenities and stuff, though, don't they? The Bears don't get naming rights, pay millions in rent, and do not benefit from non-football events the way I believe the Cards do. It's a really crappy deal.Illinois doesn't suck - they don't want to be suckered into another bad deal. Soldier Field remodel was for one reason -the Bears. So yes, the State subsidized billionaires.
Cardinals don't own State Farm Stadium. There are three that are privately owned.
Yet that was the deal the Bears agreed to.Cards get revenue from the amenities and stuff, though, don't they? The Bears don't get naming rights, pay millions in rent, and do not benefit from non-football events the way I believe the Cards do. It's a really crappy deal.

Yeah, I have no interest/care in what happens in Illinois or Chicago, or NY or...This has always been one of the most interesting things about message boards to me.
Threads have titles which explain what is discussed inside of them. Often, they'll even include a descriptor like "OT" for Off Topic, so a potential reader knows the content is not about the team they follow. As I look through the thread titles, often there are threads which don't interest me - so I just skip them. Yep. Don't read them at all and just move on.
But there are always people who open them and then must make a comment about how little they care about the thread content.
Kudos to you the "I have no interest in what is being discussed and feel compelled to inform you" board readers.![]()

The city agreed to the remodel. The NFL and the Bears both paid the amounts they agreed to pay. The city of Chicago agreed to pay an amount by raising hotel taxes, etc. yet they have not paid it and now they feel the Bears should pay it - which was NOT the agreement.Illinois doesn't suck - they don't want to be suckered into another bad deal. State bird is the cardinal! Are birds real in Indiana?
