It's not definite but it would explain why teams would pass on him, especially teams in a win now mode.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Reuben Foster's surprising drop to the 49ers late in the first round last week was due to his concerning shoulder injury. Schefter wrote that Foster's surgery "didn't take" and one source predicted "Foster would not make it through his rookie season."

On Thursday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan didn't exactly refute Schefter's report. In an interview with KNBR, Shanahan admitted that there's a chance Foster could miss the entire season.

"The worst-case scenario is the shoulder doesn't heal correctly and you've got to do it again," Shanahan said. "When you have to do it again, you have to get another surgery, and so it would be tough to play this year, and you'd end up having him the next year."

Every highlight video of the guy shows him just bulldozing ball carriers, and everyone is so impressed. Man look at that hit!

What I see: guy who tackles with his forehead.

Every hit, yes he is smashing the opponent, but hes also rattling his brain with awful tackle form. I have no doubt he will have concussion issues.

The only way his surgery didn't take is if he didn't do what he was supposed to do post surgery. I'm going through this right now and you have to follow the doctor's instructions to the letter or you risk pulling the sutures and posts apart. There have been times I absentmindedly did things like pick something too heavy up or jerked my arm a certain way but otherwise I followed everything to the letter.

The other story is he used a surgeon that was not recommended by his coach.

“Look, the way we like for things to get handled, that didn’t get handled,” Saban told AL.com. “We have the best doctors in the world in Dr. (James) Andrews and Dr. (Lyle) Cain who operate on most NFL players, and his agent chose to take him someplace else. I think (Andrews and Cain) have tremendous credibility.

Isn't James Andrews the go to guy? That's who he should have used. Hell, the guy I used at Rothman was a shoulder specialist and a sports medicine guy and he was terrific. 7 weeks out from surgery and I'm in no pain and the only time I have pain is after physical therapy.

The hilarity of this is that ousted former GM Trent Baalke was famous for taking injured guys with fairly high draft picks, thinking he'd gotten a steal and that they'd contribute later after some rehab time. But it NEVER worked out that way. Now the new regime comes in and immediately tries the same thing? Wth are they thinking?? If Foster is a washout, then their "awesome" draft is suddenly a big dud.

Where were those injured (the all ACL team) players picked from? SEC Schools! Lol

Saban runs those guys into the ground

Bingo. Alabama guys are obviously very talented, but his practices are crazy insane. Those players have little tread left on the tire once they get to the pros.

His agent should be fired for turning down Dr. Andrews. Either that or the guy was too dumb to listen to his Dr's post surgery instructions. Either way...Reddick will have a better career.
