Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Source confirms: Kim Ng expected to be named Marlins GM. Would be historic move for baseball. First female GM and also Asian-American.
Jon Heyman @JonHeyman Finally, the glass ceiling in baseball is about to be broken. Kim Ng, heading to Marlins as GM, was assistant GM with Yankees and Dodgers and also high ranking exec with White Sox. Derek Jeter snd Bruce Sherman with the breakthrough hire.
Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Forget just baseball. A woman never has been the general manager of a major American professional sports team period until Kim Ng was hired by the Miami Marlins today. Their COO is Caroline O'Connor. The Marlins' three highest-ranking officials are two women and an ex-shortstop.
Alyson Footer @alysonfooter Let's be perfectly clear here. Kim Ng has been among the most qualified GM candidates for the past two decades. She has always been capable of running a Major League team. This isn't a risky hire -- it's a smart one, by a team that obviously wants to win a World Series.
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Kim Ng has 3 World Series rings. She made 8 postseason appearances as an executive. She was assistant GM of the #Yankees and #Dodgers, then spent a decade in the Commissioner’s office. Objectively speaking, she has one of the greatest résumés of any first-time GM in @MLBhistory.
I've posted in a other thread how the new management team has turned the organization around in MIA from the toxic Loria days and now they are progressing MLB into the future with this milestone hiring. MIA fans have a bright future to look forward to and God knows they deserve it suffering for years with Loria in charge.
